Terms of Use

About These Terms

These terms describe the conditions for using SVG Index at svgindex.com, including its directory, search and filtering tools, library information, and SVG copying features. In these terms, “SVG Index,” “we,” and “us” refer to SVGIndex Inc., based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. “You” means the person using the service or the organization they are authorized to represent.

These terms take effect on the date shown above. By accessing or using SVG Index, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to the applicable terms, do not use the service. If you use it on behalf of an organization, you must have authority to act for that organization.

These terms govern access to this website. They do not replace the licenses covering third-party icons or limit rights you already have under those licenses, applicable law, or a separate written agreement.

What the Service Provides

SVG Index is a directory for discovering icon libraries and browsing icons by subject, style, and license. It provides previews, library metadata, and the ability to copy individual icons as SVG markup.

The current service can be used without an account or subscription. It does not provide paid plans, payment processing, private asset storage, or user-uploaded icon collections. Any future paid or account-based features would need their own clearly stated terms before use.

We may update, correct, reorganize, or remove listings and features. We do not promise that a particular icon, library, filter, or URL will remain available, or that the directory is complete or current at every moment.

Responsible Use

You may browse, search, link to pages, and use the provided copying features for lawful purposes. When accessing the service, you must not:

  • Attempt to obtain unauthorized access to systems, credentials, private data, or administrative functions.
  • Introduce malicious code, interfere with other visitors, or deliberately overload, damage, or disrupt the service.
  • Evade security controls or access restrictions, or continue abusive requests after being asked to stop.
  • Use the service to infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
  • Misrepresent your identity, your authority to act for a rights holder, or an affiliation with SVG Index or a library’s author.

These restrictions protect the operation of this website. They do not prohibit activities that applicable law or a third-party open license expressly permits and that we cannot lawfully restrict.

Automated Access

If you access public pages or files using automated tools, use reasonable request rates, respect published access instructions and any applicable technical limits, and avoid disrupting the service. A public URL is not a promise of an unrestricted or permanently supported API.

Do not bypass a block or repeatedly retry requests in a way that causes harm. For large-scale redistribution or bulk asset use, obtain files from the original projects or another source that supports that use, and comply with each asset’s license.

We may limit or block traffic that threatens availability, security, or other users. A restriction on requests to this website does not change rights granted by the original icon creator.

Third-party Icons and Licenses

The listed icons remain subject to their original licenses and the rights of their creators. SVG Index does not acquire ownership of an icon by listing it, and does not grant a blanket license to all catalog content.

You are responsible for checking whether your intended use is permitted, meeting attribution and notice requirements, and complying with any restrictions on commercial use, adaptations, redistribution, or source availability. The licensing guide explains common considerations.

Library metadata and our summaries are informational. The original license and any applicable asset-specific exceptions govern your rights. Copying SVG markup may not include the complete license, credits, or required notices, so keep those materials separately when needed.

SVG Index Content and Branding

The SVG Index name, logo, original writing, and original interface design are distinct from the third-party icon libraries. Except where an explicit license or applicable law provides otherwise, these terms do not grant you rights to present that branding or site content as your own.

You may refer to SVG Index by name and link to its public pages in a truthful way. Do not imply that we or an icon creator endorse your product, sponsor your organization, or have approved your use of a mark when that is not the case.

Nothing here takes away rights you have under a separately published software license, an icon license, or an exception such as fair use or fair dealing where applicable.

Privacy and Communications

The privacy policy describes how browsing, searches, asset requests, clipboard actions, and communications are handled. These terms do not ask you to consent to unrelated tracking or waive privacy rights.

If you contact us, provide accurate information that is reasonably necessary for the request. Do not send passwords, payment details, confidential client material, or sensitive personal information that is not needed to explain the issue.

Availability and Accuracy

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available and without a promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular project. We do not guarantee the completeness of the catalog, the correctness of all metadata, or that third-party content is cleared for every possible use.

You should retain your own copies of assets, licenses, and attribution records that you need. Verify important information with the original source before relying on it in a release, client deliverable, or commercial decision.

Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty, guarantee, or remedy that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

Liability and Your Legal Rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, SVG Index is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of, or inability to use, the service, including loss of profits, business opportunities, or data. The effect of this limitation depends on the law that applies to you and the circumstances of a claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence where it cannot lawfully be limited, or any other liability that the law does not allow to be excluded or limited.

If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer protections continue to apply. These terms do not require you to give up non-waivable rights, accept mandatory arbitration, or waive participation in collective proceedings.

Changes and Access Restrictions

We may revise these terms to reflect changes in the service, security needs, or legal requirements. The page will identify its update date, and material changes will be communicated where required by applicable law. Changes are intended to apply prospectively, not to rewrite an icon license you already received.

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, protect the service, or comply with law. Where practical and appropriate, we will explain the restriction and consider a request to correct a mistake.

You can stop using SVG Index at any time. Stopping use does not remove obligations attached to icons you have already obtained, and an access restriction does not revoke a valid third-party license.

Questions and Disputes

If an issue arises, contact us with the relevant page, a description of the problem, and any information needed to understand it. We encourage an attempt to resolve concerns directly, without limiting your ability to use remedies available under applicable law.

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any mandatory rights to bring proceedings elsewhere, the courts located in Vancouver, British Columbia, have jurisdiction over disputes concerning these terms or the service. This choice of law does not deprive you of protections that applicable consumer or privacy law does not allow you to waive.

If a provision is found unenforceable, it should be applied only to the extent the law permits, and the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent they can stand independently. A failure to enforce a provision on one occasion is not automatically a waiver of it in the future.

Contact and Rights Reports

Contact SVGIndex Inc., Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, at hello@svgindex.com for questions about these terms or reports concerning the service.

For a copyright, trademark, or licensing concern, identify the work, its location on SVG Index, your relationship to the rights holder, the basis of the concern, and a way to reply. Include supporting source material where available. We may ask for clarification or supporting evidence before taking action.

A report may lead to a correction, further investigation, or restriction of a listing where appropriate. Sending a report does not automatically establish ownership or infringement. Do not submit knowingly false or misleading reports.
